June 2024 - From childhood, Maui Kuleana's Founder Jeeyun Lee was nurtured to have a strong sense of kuleana to the greater community at large, strong leadership skills and a deep and abiding belief in partnerships. It is these values that would become her model of business excellence as one of Hawai‘i’s youngest nonprofit leaders. Pacific Business News named her to its prestigous 40 Under 40 honor.

Her leadership in the nonprofit arena includes serving as Maui United Way's Director of Impact; Adjunct Faculty at University of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific University; Development Director of Hale Makua Health Services; HR and Healthcare Navigator Program Director at Imua Family Services. She also served as Executive Director of Hawai‘i Nature Center, where she led a staff of nearly 30. She innovated programs such as the ‘Ohana Project, which uses mindfulness-based meditation and nature as catalysts for stress reduction and personal transformation. Other past positions include Youth and Elder Services Manager for Waikiki Health and Clinical Operations Director for Gregory House Programs. She also served as program coordinator for a state-wide HIV/ Hepatitis C early intervention program at Waikiki Health, where she worked in the trenches with those suffering from drug addiction.

After earning her master's degree, she launched her career in nonprofit service in the Midwest, then moved to the East Coast where she worked in public health, more specifically in cancer education and outreach, gerontology and children’s services. She adopted Hawai‘i as her home in 2009 and moved to Maui in 2011.

Business Philosophy: To create the world you want to see with kuleana, compassion and committment to organizations that work for the betterment of Maui.
